Précis

Many regional artists have portrayed the geology of Kansas faithfully and with realism.

Since the turn of the 20th Century, these artists have painted and drawn most of the countryside in the state. Their work and that of skillful and artistic geologists are compared and contrasted. Eight prominent regional artists, Louis Copt, J.

Steuart Curry, Raymond Eastwood, Phil Epp, J.R. Hamil, Stan Herd, Birger Sandzén, and Robert Sudlow are used to demonstrate how to interpret geology in their landscapes.
